What is a trataka meditation technique? Trataka meditation is an age-old practice of improving focus. In many cases the individual may also experience blurry vision, blind sports at the centre of vision and distorted vision too. The common symptoms are eye soreness, headache, discomfort in seeing bright things and watery eyes. Experts say that even a few minutes of staring at the sun may damage the eye and the eye damage due to the sun will start appearing in 10-12 hours. This process of damage is called solar retinopathy. Once inside the retina, the UV rays form free radicals which begin to oxidize the surrounding tissues thus damaging them. When we stare at the sun directly without wearing any protective glass, the ultraviolet rays enter the eyes and get absorbed by the retina, which is the light-sensitive tissue lining the eye. What happens when you stare at the sun directly? We are always told to not stare at the sun directly. Doctors recommend trying the 20-20-20 rule: which is to look away from the screen every 20 minutes to an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Prolonged hours of work-from-home rules, less scope to go anywhere else and lockdowns have increased cases of eye related issues. Read: Dementia risk increases in women due to this commonly prescribed drug During COVID pandemic, when lockdowns were imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the usage of laptops increased manifold and so were the cases of dry eyes. As per a research study, a human being blinks 66% less number of times while using laptops and mobile phones. This explains why experts recommend taking small breaks while using laptops and mobile phones Health experts have always suggested taking small breaks every 20 minutes while using laptops and mobile phones as prolonged staring at the screen reduces effective blinking which subsequently dries out the eyes. Cessation of blinking can lead to swelling of cornea due to the lack of oxygen. In addition to this, the debris particles of the eyes which are flushed out by the moisture content of the eyes, will remain inside when there is not enough moisture thus again giving scope to infections. The moisture present in the eyes prevents infectious pathogens from breeding. Moreover it will also lay the ground for infections. The eyes will lose their moisture to the external environment leading to blurry vision, pain in the eyes and a burning sensation. Just remember that, as pretty and awesome as they undoubtedly are, leave the sun staring to the professionals if you want to be able to keep reading articles on the internet. What happens when you stop blinking? The first and foremost damage that can happen to the eyes when it is not blinked is it gets dry. So that just means that there’s plenty more stunning pics of the sun waiting to be had in the future. All of the images and the data gathered in the first cycle was captured in 2022. These images are a part of a massive amount of data collected during the first cycle of the Operations Commissioning Phase Proposal Call, an initiative by the National Science Foundation soliciting proposal requests to use the Inouye telescope. Of course, more complex sunspots can be home to solar flares and solar storms, which can wreak havoc here on terra firma when it interferes with our electrical systems. These are darker and cooler areas that are often the size of planet Earth-though they’re miniscule relative to the rest of the star. The tool was specifically trained on the so-called “quiet” regions of the sun known as sunspots. As such, you can see the hot, swirling plasma along with the darker, tendril-like magnetic field of the sun’s chromosphere. This tool allows it to record images at incredibly high resolutions at very precise wavelengths-allowing it to get past the intense brightness of the sun and just look at the good stuff. The pics were captured by the Visible-Broadband Imager on the Inouye telescope.
